SOFRITO FOR #LATISM

George Torres, founder of Sofrito For Your Soul and Sofrito Media Group, will be one of the panelists at the #LATISM tweet up scheduled for April 7, 2011 at 6:30pm at Edelman, NYC (RSVP here LATISM-NY )

Who is he? George is a pioneer in the use of social media for community building. From poetry readings to Radio Capicu his efforts have reached out and connected Latinos with their cultural roots. Not to mention the wonderful portfolio managed by Sofrito Media Group which range from cultural to health organizations.

Why all the excitement? The #Sofrito Twitter hash tag caught my eye last year and I began to read George's blog. When his call for entries was tweeted, I contributed my poem "Toda Mujer" that got published at the Sofrito For Your Soul blog. For me it will be a privilege to thank George in person.

I will moderate the panel that will discuss "Using Social Media for Social Good" an event organized by Latinos in Social Media LATISM and sponsored by Johnson & Johnson. But perhaps the most significant part of this event will be the fact that we will be joining forces to help children in Monte Cristi, Dominican Republic, through the LATISM Sustainable Projects.

You are cordially invited! Please join us!
